Our microbiology lab is one of the largest of it's kind in Ontario, providing 24/7 service to patients in the broder Hamilton area and across southern Ontario.
Our expert team of MD and PhD microbiologists, technical specialists, MLTs, and MLAs work together to develop innovative microbiology diagnostics to enhance patient care. Our laboratory offers a wide range of services from Bacteriology, Mycology, Virology and Molecular Diagnostic Microbiology to meet the needs of our patients. With our cutting-edge technology and advanced research, we strive to provide our clients with the best possible care.
SPOTLIGHT
Dr. Deb Yamamura
Dr. Yamamura has worked as a Medical Microbiologist with the HRLMP since 2006 and is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine. Dr. Yamamura is an experienced leader, who was Medical Microbiology’s Interim Discipline Director from 2019 to 2022, and is currently the President of the Association of Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases Canada. Dr. Yamamura was a source of clear communication to our clinical colleagues and our provincial partners during the tumultuous COVID-19 pandemic; she provided leadership through her role as Chair of the COVID Steering Committee, and patient care as a frontline infectious diseases physician.
