Our Microbiology lab is one of the largest of it's kind in Ontario, providing 24/7 service to patients in the broader Hamilton area and across Ontario.
Our expert team of MD and PhD Microbiologists, technical specialists, MLTs, and MLAs work together to develop innovative Microbiology diagnostics to enhance patient care. Our laboratory offers a wide range of services from Bacteriology, Mycology, Virology, and Molecular Diagnostic Microbiology to meet the needs of our patients. With our cutting-edge technology and advanced research, we strive to provide our clients with the best possible care.
SPOTLIGHT
Dr. Debbie Yamamura
Dr. Yamamura has worked as a Medical Microbiologist with the HRLMP since 2006 and is a Professor in the Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine. She is also the current the Director of the Microbiology Laboratory. She was President of the Association of Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases Canada from 2022-2024 and was Chair of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Medical Microbiology Examination Board from 2015 to 2022.
Dr. Yamamura was a source of clear communication to our clinical colleagues and our provincial partners during the tumultuous COVID-19 pandemic; she provided leadership through her role as Chair of the HRLMP COVID Steering Committee, and patient care as a frontline infectious diseases physician.
